LET'S GROW UP TOGETHER - il nuovo progetto di Oasi Giovani nell'ambito dell' European Solidary Corps.

 Let's grow up together - Cresciamo Insieme

let's grow up together - Project Summary

Objectives

After years of experience with the National Civil Service, Oasi Giovani believes that the European Solidarity Corps will bring an added-value to the educational intervention for children and youth engaged in the activities of the Association, will increase staff motivation and raise cultural and intercultural awareness in the local community.

With the project Cresciamo insieme Oasi Giovani intends to promote the solidarity values and europeanism by offering two 12-months-long volunteering experiences at Oasi Giovani's educational services for volunteers aged between 18 and 30 years old. The volunteers will have the chance to daily contribute to the solidarity activities aimed at the local community.

The objectives of the volunteering experience aim at promote the youth emancipation in solidarity services for youth and more specifically the project aims to:

- offer a direct experience with an organization operating in the educational field and with children and youth of different age and socio-cultural background;

- experience solidarity in a social dimension as many people who take part in Oasi Giovani's services come from situation of familiar vulnerability;

- take part in the work of a not-for-profit organisation pursuing solidarity objectives in the fields of social assistance and education;

- take part in training sessions specifically aimed for volunteers (national and international ones) by the means of actvities which follow the principles of non formal education such as team building, team work, team games, guided self-reflection and sharing sessions;

- increase the intercultural, social, civic, personal growth, linguistic and organisational competences of the engaged volunteers;

- support volunteers in the recognition of their learning process and in the certification of the learned competences thorugh Youthpass;

- contribute with new energy and incentives in the educatinal services and in Oasi Giovani's staff team operating in the town of Savigliano;

- contribute in the promotion of solidairty and Europeanism values within the local community.

The expected results and impacts are the creation of a strong intercultural dimension and the increase of the awareness of the opportunities that the EU offers for youth in the area of Savigliano.

The expected results and impacts on participants are personal growth, a higher awareness of their abilities and competences and of the educational and social field; on the local community it is expcted to create a strong international presence and a higher awareness of the opportunities offered by the EU for youth in the areas of Savigliano; on the other organisations operating on the territory it is expected to increase knowledge of the opportunities offered by the EU for youth and the volunteering sector and a major opennes towards them; on the children and youth partaking in Oasi Giovani's activities a major openness and interest towards new cultures and a major knowledge of the culture of the volunteers who did their volunteering year at Oasi Giovani.

Activities

The activity that Oasi Giovani plans to implement is the offer of two volunteering positions for two volunteers aged between 18 and 30 years old who have registered on the European Solidarity Corps online platform.

Oasi Giovani has an age-long experience in the educational field and in the promotion of long term volunteering. Furthremore it strongly believes that hosting international volunteers would be an added-value for the volunteers

themselves, the target groups of its services and activities and for the staff members.

Volunteers would have the chance to experience an Italian NGO, active in the educational and social assistance field for many years. Oasi Giovani's target groups would benefit from the presence of international young people who would bring an European dimension to the area of Savigliano and who share their culture and knowledge. The staff members will have the chance to experience an international dimension and to enirch their working competence.

More specifically volunteers will work at the after school service (pick up children from school, help out at the canteen, help out with homework, organise and supervise educational and recreational activities), at the

baby-parent community (organise and supervise educational and recreational with children, accompany and give mums and their kids lifts by car) and at the Ocean project (promote educational and recreational activities for youth). Volunteers are never alone in doing their tasks and they should feel free to contribute with their ideas and competences when carrying out the activities. Aside from their volunteer job, volunteers take part in general and specific traninings in Savigliano and in Rome (at the National Agency's headquarter), periodic meetings with their tutors, socializing events together with other ESC volunteers operating in the area at other organisations. In conclusion, they will be guided in the self-evaluation of their volunteering year and in the definition of their learning process and of the learned competences.

Project management

Oasi Giovani will take care of all logistic matters concerning the selection and preparation of the volunteers before their departure. Oasi Giovani's staff will be in touch with the volunteers beforehand via Skype or other

long-distance communication channels. Volunteers will be given an info-pack with all useful information concernig their stay in Italy (healthcare system, insurance, useful emergency numbers or contacts, the public means of transportation system) and will be assisted in the purchase of the flights in case of need. Oasi Giovani will organise a welcoming event where volunteers will meet Oasi Giovani's staff and will get to know the premises of their volunteering workplace as well as their accommodation. Oasi Giovani will put in touch volunteers with the local Informagiovani office, where they will be able to find all useful information regarding initiatives for youth on the territory. Plus, Oasi Giovani intends to get in touch with other organizations hosting ESC volunteers in the provinces of Cuneo (where it is based) and of Turin, which is easily reachable by train. In this way volunteers will not only have the chance to meet youth living in Italy, but also other volunteers coming from other countries.

Volunteers will be guided throughout their volunteering period and also after their return back home: re-adjusting after a whole year spent in a different context can be challenging and Oasi Giovani is willing to accompany volunteers in this process too, together with the supporting organisation.

Project partners will be the support organizations which will be identified according to the selection of volunteers. In any case partners will be chosen from the database of the organizations holding the Quality Label, who work together with youth in the non formal education field and who need to: work with youth mobility; devlop solid European partenerships; promote empowerment and youth inclusion in particular those with fewer opportunities. In the selection of partners the following factors will play a more important role: the quality of previous experiences; feedbacks from previous volunteers engaged; the feedbacks of the other organizations who have collaborated with them; the activities they carry out at a local/regional/national level.

Oasi Giovani plans to collaborate with organisations expert in international youth exchanges and initiatives operating in the surrunding area (such as Madiba SCS, Eufemia, Giosef Torino) and to create partnerships with the selected supporting organisations by the means of a written agreement stating out tasks and how the organisations will collaborate in order to best assist volunteers in their preparation, departure, staying and return.
